Volunteering

MuseWeb offers complimentary registration to a limited number of students and professionals from small institutions in return for assistance with conference administration.

Over the course of the conference, a volunteer will dedicate 20-25 hours and perform a variety of duties that are crucial to the success of the conference. There are two categories of volunteers to choose from and their duties include;

Virtual Volunteer

  • technical volunteer to assist with virtual sessions;
  • assist with audience Q&A and chat features;
  • may be responsible recording and editing sessions;
  • report to the organizers any technical or other problems that arise;
  • other duties may be assigned.

A virtual volunteer must be able to attend the online volunteer orientation and software tutorial in advance of the conference dates time and date (TBA).

*Please be aware that most of the live virtual sessions you will be assisting with are scheduled to take place in the US Eastern Standard Time Zone.

In-Person Volunteer*

  • register attendees in two assigned 3 hour shifts on the registration desk;
  • monitor assigned conference sessions, put up session signs, place speaker “tents,” greet the chair and speakers, observe the progress of the session and report to the organizers any technical or other problems that arise;
  • guide attendees to buses for social events or to other conference activities.
  • other duties may be assigned.

*An in-person volunteer must be able to attend the volunteer orientation and site tour in Washington DC on Monday April 5, 2021 (time to be confirmed. Most likely 2:30-5pm). Times and duties are subject to change due to unforeseen developments concerning the COVID-19 pandemic.

The cost of registration will be waived for both virtual and in-person volunteers; however volunteers must pay for any pre-conference workshops or tours they wish to attend. Travel (hotel, expenses and flight costs) is not included. All social event tickets are included.

The application deadline is December 31, 2020. Please apply here. For more information about volunteering or applying, please contact the volunteer coordinator, Alison Heney.
